Dave Prentiss: Hawthorne’s Marble Faun
Hawthorne considered The Marble Faun his greatest work, yet it is widely considered a lesser one by scholars. Prentiss examines this study of the human soul and peels back the layers of mystery to gain understanding.

Dave Prentiss teaches in the political science department of the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. He received a B.A. in Philosophy at Assumption College, a J.D. from New England School of Law and a M.A. in Political Science at Boston College. His research interests include Nathaniel Hawthorne, Jane Austen, Alexander Hamilton and the American Founding, Abraham Lincoln, and political philosophy. Dave grew up in Salem, Massachusetts and now lives in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
