Lazy, Hazy, Crazy: Stories of Summer
A summer edition of the Athenaeum’s storytelling series, where people tell true stories live without notes. A special version of the Athenaeum’s summer salon, this event features stories by Alison Gerber, Marc Levy, Joe McGurn, Dann Anthony Maurno, Gwen Rosemond, and Priscilla Swain. Hosted by J.D. Scrimgeour.
Discussion group meets on the second Saturday of the month at 11:00 a.m.
The Incessant Pipe Poetry Salon will meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7pm upstairs in the Salem Athenaeum. “The Pipe” is a space to read poetry, yours or others, and discuss everything from the price of tea in China to quantum particles (as long as it relates back to poetry). All styles of poetry are welcome.
According to Reading Is Fundamental, over 93 million adults in the U.S. read at or below the basic level needed to contribute successfully to society. Literacy remains a core educational and social issue. This salon shines a light on local efforts to improve literacy by fostering a love of reading at an early age. Join us this Friday for the final salon of the summer, which will be indoors.
