and in recognition and appreciation of your
contribution to Salem’s rich and evolving story,
The Trustees of the Salem Athenaeum
are delighted to invite you to the unveiling of
the newly created archival reproduction of the

1629 Charter of the Governor and Company of the
Massachusetts Bay in New England.

This foundational document of American democracy, the
“Endecott Charter,” was entrusted to the Salem Athenaeum in 1810.
Learn about its remarkable provenance and celebrate its enduring significance
with distinguished historians, authors, and educators,
