Ensures the preservation, maintenance and improvement of the facilities and grounds of the historic Salem Athenaeum

Collections
Assists the Executive Director in the care of the Athenæum’s books, manuscripts, prints, photographs, artwork, and archival records.

Cultural Programming Committee
Designs, implements and promotes high quality education and enrichment programming for the North Shore influenced by the collections and history of the Salem Athenaeum.

Finance
Ensures the short and long term financial health of the Athenaeum and its assets.

Governance, Nominating and Executive Committees
Ensures a highly effective Board of Trustees that makes the ethical and strategic decisions necessary to fulfill the mission of the Salem Athenaeum.

Membership Committee
Engages members in the activities of the Athenaeum and recruits new members from current and new constituencies.

Salem Literary Festival
Organizes and hosts an annual literary festival weekend committed to celebrating literature in all forms, honoring Salem’s own literary heritage, and fostering the next generation of readers and writers.

Writers Committee
Designs, implements and promotes programs that will make the Salem Athenaeum the Writers’ Center of the North Shore.
