New Date! New Program!
The concert is on! Online, that is. Back in March, we rescheduled the Sheffield Chamber Players to May 29, hoping we’d be able to hold it in person. But now we’re pleased to announce that this concert will be our first virtual event in the If Music Could Talk series.
The program will also be different. Instead of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, the program will feature music that we turn to in times of crisis, or Musica Cordis (Music of the Heart). Because of social distancing, the full group can’t gather to perform. But that has proved no obstacle to the Sheffield Chamber Players: violinist Sasha Callahan and cellist Leo Eguchi share a household, while violist Alexander Vavilov is joined by special guest (and spouse) Olga Talroze, pianist.
The program will feature unaccompanied string works by J.S. Bach, instrumental transcriptions of songs by Gabriel Fauré and Hugo Wolf, and music by Max Bruch and Paul Hindemith. Also featured are a touching new work by local composer Tom Schnauber and some delightful short sketches by Kenji Bunch. As with all If Music Could Talk events, there will be some discussion about the music and you’ll have the chance to ask questions (in this case by online submission).
Previously purchased tickets will be honored. If you prefer a refund, please contact Jean Marie Procious at email@example.com.
Access credentials to Zoom will be emailed approximately 30 minutes before the program starts.
For more about this program, visit the Sheffield Chamber Players webpage.
A note about changes in admission costs for this series:
Now that our events will be online for awhile, we’re asking for donations instead. Please be as generous as you can. Most of the proceeds go to the musicians, who have basically seen 100% of their in-person performances cancelled and only have limited opportunities for online events. If you purchased tickets previously, they will be honored for this event. If you wish a refund, please contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for staying with us during this difficult time.
