As part of the sixth Salem Poetry Seminar, a week-long event for 13 colleges students selected from throughout the Commonwealth, the Athenæum will feature free public readings by an established poet teaching in the seminar and brief readings by the promising student poets.

A 2014 Lannan Fellowship and three-time Pushcart Prize winner, Jill McDonough’s books of poems include Habeas Corpus, Oh, James!, and Where You Live. The recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fine Arts Work Center, the New York Public Library, the Library of Congress, and Stanford’s Stegner program, she taught incarcerated college students through Boston University’s Prison Education Program for 13 years. She teaches at UMass Boston.
