400 years ago, the world bid adieu to one of its greatest partiers – er, dramatists. William Shakespeare gave us countless new quips to bandy about, over a hundred sonnets for wooing and rumination, and dozens of plays that have entertained since they first were strutted across The Globe stage. Now, he gives us a reason to revel!
Join us for a celebration of Shakespeare’s birthday and the 400th anniversary of his death, hosted by local Shakespeare expert, Patricia Buchanan. Prepare a brief monologue, scene, or reading of your favorite sonnet to share, or choose from the readings we will have available, and prance over to the Athenaeum in your finest pantaloons or cross-dressed disguise!
